The ICCA Congress 2023 in Bangkok set a new benchmark in sustainable event management, achieving a significant reduction of 505 tons of CO2 emissions, while hosting a record-breaking 1,123 delegates. This milestone congress exemplifies the future of sustainable practices in the MICE industry.
ICCA Congress 2023 in Bangkok concluded with the success on sustainability legacy. In cooperation with ICCA, Thailand exercised the practice of sustainable food sourcing and management during the congress that has become a model for Bangkok Pledge on Gastronomy Sustainability to be launched at ICCA Congress 2024 in Abu Dhabi.
Another key result for the sustainable congress in Bangkok is the reduction of 505 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent through all domestic activities of the gathering. The impacts are achieved against the record-breaking performance of ICCA Congress 2023, which attracted 1,123 delegates from 80 countries, making it the largest congress ever held in the Asia Pacific region and the third largest globally.
ICCA Congress 2023 was held between 12 and 15 November 2023 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC).
Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), stated that “TCEB is honored to share an ambitious goal with ICCA in the area of sustainability and we can deliver it in practical and measurable term as demonstrated by our food sourcing and food waste management. TCEB and Thailand ICCA members are delighted that the shared goal and practice become a cooperative model with ICCA in the development of Bangkok Pledge on Gastronomy Sustainability. We look forward to ICCA’s launch of the remarkable pledge in its 2024 congress”.
