REPORT – IT&CM 2010 – SHANGHAI: The Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), together with 5 professional MICE service providers, represents Taiwan for the first time in IT&CM China 2010 (stand no. 152).  TWTC is uniquely positioned to provide comprehensive support for MICE event organizers, both in Taipei and through over 50 overseas branches.  Besides operating 3 major venues in Taipei-Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall, TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall, and Taipei International Convention Center, TWTC works closely with travel agencies, PCOs, and local and central government agencies to assist in event bidding, planning, organization and execution.

Since its opening in 2008, TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall has been not only the site for leading international trade shows such as Computex Taipei and Taipei Cycle, but also the venue of choice for large-scale conventions, sports and cultural events. The column-free hall on the upper level, with an area equivalent to over 3.5 football fields, can accommodate up to 18,000 participants. Companies including Herbalife, Bayer Healthcare, Benz, and Chanel have chosen Nangang Exhibition Hall for corporate events such as regional annual conferences and product launches.

TWTC also joined force with Taiwan MICE industry associations in organizing EXCO TAIWAN 2009, held November 19~20.  This first-time event featured 140 domestic and overseas convention & exhibition service providers, including representatives from Germany, Sweden, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Korea, and Japan, and attracted 5,071 people including 2,100 MICE industry professionals. Scores of dream buyers, including multinationals such as HP, Siemens, HTC, Samsung, and Epson, and insurance and marketing firms such as China Life Insurance, Allianz, and Nu Skin Taiwan, looked for potential MICE vendors at the show. EXCO Taiwan 2010 will open a first-class platform for exchange and communication with Asia’s MICE industry later this year when it unfolds October 6 to 8. Concurrently the 2010 Asian MICE Forum (AMF 2010) will take place at the Taipei International Convention Center. The highlight of this event will be a panel discussion on Cross Strait Exhibition/Venue Cooperation & Development where MICE professionals from both sides of the Strait will share knowledge gained from successful past cooperation and explore future business opportunities.

In addition to professional MICE services, Taiwan also has much to offer to visitors: natural beauty, intriguing traditions, culinary delights and affordable shopping, all easily accessible via modern and convenient transportation.  With direct air links between Taiwan and major cities in China established in 2009, Taiwan has become a trendy destination for large corporate meeting and incentive travel in the Greater China region. Most recent was the 2010 BSB Annual Conference organized by Bayer Healthcare China Corporation. Besides gaining key perspectives for challenges ahead, delegates enjoyed natural beauty of Taroko Gorge and Sun Moon Lake, cultural treasures of the National Palace Museum, and tantalizing food that comes from innovative blending of Chinese, Japanese and western cuisines. Last year 972,123 visitors came across the Taiwan Strait, and this number is expected to climb to over 1.2 million this year.
