China’s outbound tourism sector grew by 4% when most of the international tourism declined. A new publication by the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute, the COTRI Yearbook 2010, presents a valuable collection of academic papers and case studies about the background of the development of China’s outbound tourism.

In his Foreword to the COTRI Yearbook, Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General UNWTO United Nations World Tourism Organization gives his view: “The COTRI Yearbook 2010 offers a variety of articles from distinguished scholars and tourism experts from China and other countries. Readers will gain new insights into the development of outbound tourism from China to countries as diverse as Belgium, Germany, Jamaica and Mexico. They will also find practical information about how to increase the level of service quality for the specific needs of Chinese travellers. Owing to the wealth of information it contains, I am confident that it will be of interest to many, as the Chinese outbound tourism simply cannot be ignored by any important player in the global tourism market.”

The editor of the COTRI Yearbook, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, enjoyed the help of an Advisory board of editors including tourism personalities of international renown like John Koldowski (PATA), Xu Jing (UNWTO) and Zhang Guangrui (CASS).

COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute is the worldwide leading independent research institute for analysis, consulting and quality assessment relating to the Chinese Outbound Tourism market.
