Sydney Airport Corp will spend more than 100 mln aud over the next twelve months upgrading facilities for the new Airbus A380 airliner, chief executive Max Moore-Wilton said.

The project encompasses upgrading runway and apron infrastructure as well as improvement of terminal facilities, Moore-Wilton said in a statement.

He said the group is working closely with Singapore Airlines in developing A380-ready facilities. Singapore Airlines will be the first airline to fly the A380 while Sydney Airport will be one of the first airports in the world to welcome it.

Moore-Wilton said getting Sydney Airport ready for these new larger aircraft will also involve building new aerobridges and strengthening existing public road tunnels around the airport.
