Solomon Airlines to resume all services

After a short stop of services, Solomon Airlines resumed providing their services in all passenger on June 9 2016.

HONIARA, Solomon Islands – Solomon Airlines resumed full operation of all international and domestic services on Thursday, 9 June 2016 after a brief suspension of them on Tuesday 7 June 2016.

The decision of the suspension has had immediate impact on the airline’s eight weekly services between Brisbane and Honiara, flights to and from Nadi, Fiji and Port Vila, Vanuatu, and all domestic services within the Solomon Islands.

In a statement delivered to codeshare partners and other international carriers operating into Henderson International Airport, Captain Sumsum said this decision, due to a dispute with the Solomon Islands’ Government, had not been taken lightly.

“This decision also affects services operated by us to our codeshare partners and services provided to all other airlines in our capacity as ground handling agents.”

“I am confident the Solomon Islands’ Government will address the situation in a very short time,” Captain Sumsum said.

Apologising for the disruption to services, Captain Sumsum said he was hopeful the airline would return to full operation as soon as possible.

The airline advised it would operate one international flight on June 8 from Honiara to Brisbane  before full international and domestic flights recommence the next day.

June’s 8 service operated as follows:
Wednesday  08 June – IE 700/QF 380    HIR-BNE    1900 / 2115

The airline also resumed all services provided to all other airlines utilising Henderson International Airport in its capacity as ground handling agent.

Captain Sumsum said Solomon Airlines unreservedly apologised for any inconvenience the situation had caused the airline’s passengers, its codeshare partners and other international carriers and their passengers.
