Mrs Rosie Douglas, Director of Sales and Marketing at The Lakes Cairns Resort and Spa, Australia, announced the appointment of Naomi Coats as Sales Manager. Ms Coats took up her position this week following the resignation of Glenn Fawcett who had been employed by the award-winning resort for the past five years.
With extensive tertiary qualifications that include a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing, Tourism & Hospitality Management) as well as an impressive resume of practical experience, Mrs Douglas said it was this, as well as Naomi’s desire to establish a challenging sales and marketing career in Australia’s tourism industry that secured her application in this much sought-after position.
According to Mrs Douglas, Naomi’s main areas of focus will be the domestic retail market and New Zealand. “Naomi’s role will be interesting and varied. In addition to her primary responsibilities Naomi will assist me with campaign development and marketing administration.”
Most recently, Naomi spent 12 months participating in a Corporate Cadetship at Rydges Esplanade Resort in Cairns. This involved working up to a supervisory or management level in several aspects of hotel management from reservations and operations to housekeeping and food and beverage.
Prior to that, she spent 12 months in the position of Marketing Manager for Avoca Beach Heritage Villas on the Central Coast of NSW where she developed and introduced a successful Guest Loyalty program. Other related work experience included a position in the Business Development Unit of Sydney Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
