This November when The Adventures in Travel Expo touches down in Sydney, a draw card for visitors to the inaugural Australian event will be the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT). Founded in 1986, IIPT is a not for profit organisation dedicated to fostering and facilitating tourism initiatives which contribute to international collaboration and understanding, an improved quality of environment and the preservation of heritage.

Based on a vision of travel and tourism, the world`s largest industry, becoming the first global peace organisation; along with the belief that every traveler is potentially an Ambassador for Peace,” a primary goal of IIPT is mobilising the travel industry to be a principal force behind poverty reduction.

The IIPT seminars at The Adventures in Travel Expo will provide invaluable information on movement efforts designed to build a culture of peace through tourism while creating added awareness of the social, cultural, environmental, and economic benefits of travel. IIPT Australia president Daphne Lowe Kelley believes that by adopting the Credo of the Peaceful Traveller, more Australian travellers will become Ambassadors for Peace.

IIPT representatives will discuss the role of tourism as an agent for peace, challenging and enlightening you with case studies and tangible examples and highlighting the vital roles travelers and host communities can play in creating a more equitable and peaceful world.
