Web In Travel puts the customer in focus at ITB Asia

Web in Travel 2010 – the conference element of ITB Asia – will attract the largest, most diverse and highest level gathering of travel industry professionals in the Asian travel distribution, marketing and technology sector this year.

Web In Travel (WIT) has confirmed 75 speakers including travel industry CEOs, pioneers, investors and futurists. An intense two-day WIT conference, 19-20 October, at Suntec Singapore will be preceded by specialist WIT activities such as WITovation Entrepreneur Bootcamp (18 October) and followed by the WIT Ideas Lab and WIT Clinics 21-22 October, which ITB Asia attendees can join at no extra charge.

The first clinic on 21 October, is entitled, “How to Make Money from Your Website.” The second, on 22 October, is called, “Making Social Media Work For You.”

In the WIT Ideas Lab travel industry leaders will also give practical advice on subjects such as the mainland China market, luxury travel, the benefits of specialisation, and optimising social media and search.

ITB Asia runs simultaneously at Suntec, 20-22 October. “There is huge practical synergy between Web In Travel and ITB Asia,” said Dr Martin Buck, Vice President, Messe Berlin. “With one special price WIT ticket giving access to both events, the value proposition for travel industry professionals who need to understand the present and future of travel is immense. It’s the travel event of the year in Asia,” he said.

Web In Travel 2010 concentrates on “The C-Spot”. The event will put the customer at the centre of its conversations, from how the customer is changing with new technology, to understanding specific customer segments within China, Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Organizer of Web In Travel, Yeoh Siew Hoon, said the interactive forum would help travel professionals understand the ongoing revolution in travel industry.

“Online and mobile is booming,” she said. “Asian travellers, along with travellers to Asia, are fuelling the growth of online travel sales at faster rates than any other populace. Asian economies are leading the economic revival worldwide. The Web in Travel programme this year is designed to bring about greater understanding of the needs and wants of the modern Asian traveller.”

Travel industry leaders and pioneers will share their latest insights and recommendations during WIT. Speakers include investor Morten Lund who has co-founded and invested in more than 50 high-tech start-ups including Skype and online stockbroker Zecco; Adrian Hamilton-Manns, CEO of Mandala Airlines in Indonesia; Cui Guang Fu, CEO, Elong, China; Gerry Samuels, CEO, Mobile Travel Technologies, UK; Hrush Bhatt, founder and director of Cleartrip/Small World in India; Marc Charron, managing director of TripAdvisor APAC, Singapore; and William Bao Bean, partner, Softbank China & India Holdings, China.
