“We are Thai”, says Centara Hotels&Resorts CEO Thirayuth Chirathivat for the chain’s 30th anniversary

The celebration of Centara Hotels & Resorts 30th anniversary is taken by CEO Thirayuth Chirathivat as an opportunity to reaffirm his love to Thailand…

BANGKOK- Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading operator of hotels, is celebrating its 30th anniversary on December 12, 2012. Part of the Central Group, the Kingdom’s biggest retailer, and formed initially as Central Hotels&Resorts, the company’s first hotel was the Hyatt Central Plaza Bangkok, today known as Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok.

From one property, Centara has grown into a chain of hotels and resorts that currently includes 38 deluxe and first-class properties covering all the major tourist destinations in Thailand, and a further 18 resorts in the Maldives, Vietnam, Bali, Sri Lanka, and Mauritius, bringing the present total to 56 properties.

There are currently six hotel brands within the Centara main brand, ensuring that specific categories such as couples, families, individuals, long-stay guests, and meetings and incentives groups will all find accommodation that is appropriate to their needs.

Centara operates also 24 branches of Spa Cenvaree, one of Thailand’s most luxurious and innovative spa brands, together with its newly-launched value brand Cense by Spa Cenvaree, which provides core spa services for busy travelers. Centara also has three major convention centres in Bangkok, and two in the northeast of Thailand, at Udon Thani, and Khon Kaen.

“Our 30th anniversary is a proud moment for us,” said Thirayuth Chirathivat, Chief Executive Officer of Centara Hotels&Resorts, “We are growing rapidly, with expansion both at home and overseas, and celebrating our anniversary gives us a moment to reflect upon the enormous advances that have been made.

“I believe that our progress comes down to several factors that interact with each other. One is that we have a superb management team. Another is that our staff, throughout all of our hotels and our offices, is totally dedicated. They are wonderful people to work with.

“Most importantly we are Thai, and integral to our whole business, influencing everything we do, is the sense of warmth and hospitality that is part of the nature of Thai people. We welcome people to Thailand because we love our country, and we ensure that our Thai service and sense of hospitality goes with us to our overseas properties. This is not something that can be taught or bought. It is entirely natural.”
