Radhanagar Beach

Grace Bay Beach crowned No. 1 on the planet, Radhanagar Beach ranked No. 6 in the World India wins BIG this year with five winners on the Asia’s best list.

SINGAPORE – Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel platform, announced the second of its annual Travellers’ Choice Awards for 2022, the Best of the Best Beaches. Following the company announcing the hottest Destinations for 2022 in January, Tripadvisor is now revealing the Beaches around the world that travellers say are making a splash. With Summertime on the horizon in India, Tripadvisor is sharing a dose of sunshine with its highly-anticipated annual ranking so that our community of travel lovers can guide you to your dream 2022 getaway.

For many sun seekers, visiting the beach is the reason they go on vacation. Sitting by the ocean with your feet in the sand is the hallmark of relaxation for many of us – especially over the past few years.

Now, a recent Tripadvisor sponsored survey revealed that 32% of travellers globally will take a beach trip in 2022. If you’re one of the many looking for a relaxing getaway, browse these award-winning beaches along with guidance from fellow travellers on the best ways to experience them to make your pick.

We know a perfect day at the beach looks different from one person to the next. Some love classic soft white sand and sunbathing, while others love exploring rocky coves. This list has something for everyone, because it was determined by the millions of different travellers all over the world reviewing their favourite beaches on Tripadvisor throughout 2021. Although last year was still far from ‘normal,’these are the beaches travellers visited and loved more than any others,” said Christine Maguire, VP, Global Media Business at Tripadvisor. “Whether you’re looking for a trip where you can continue to social distance outdoors, or are comfortable heading to spring break, beaches are the perfect place to be in 2022, and the Travellers’ Choice Awards can guide you to the best ones for you.”

The number one beach on the planet determined by travellers this year is Grace Bay Beach in Turks and Caicos. With over 7,200 reviews to-date (90% of which are 5-bubble), this quintessential Caribbean paradise has travellers raving about its white sand and crystal clear water. If you’re looking to really explore the island, up-level your Grace Bay trip by booking one of travellers’ favourite experiences, 4 Hour Group Catamaran Sail and Snorkel Tour or Parasailing Adventure from Providenciales. This year, India still retains the crown of being home to Asia’s most loved beach but travellers have crowned a brand new winner for 2022: Radhanagar Beach in Havelock Island, India. The award-winning beach is also ranked as the sixth best beach in the world! This year, India also had the most winners on the ‘best beaches in Asia’ list including Cavelossim Beach (#4), Agonda Beach (#5), Varca Beach (#8) and Benaulim Beach (#10).

The only other Asian beach making it to the World list is Yonaha Maehama Beach in Miyakojima, Japan that came in at No. 25.

Top 10 Beaches in Asia for 2022

1. Radhanagar Beach – Havelock Island, India
Traveller tip: “This is one of the most amazing beaches I have ever been to. The waves are awesome with clear blue turquoise waters and white sands. The beach has shower, washroom areas which are chargeable, however the price is very low (10 for washroom, 50 for shower). The beach itself stretches very long and it gives an amazing sunset view.” – @600tarunr

2. Yonaha Maehama Beach – Miyakojima, Japan
Traveller tip: “It’s really nice to go in the evening because the sun starts to set, so there is a lot of shade, or at least less intense sun rays. After trying several beaches on the north and south side of Miyakojima, this so far has the best mix of coral and fish.” – @BryanI291

3. Railay Beach – Krabi, Thailand
Traveller tip: “The beach is fab for either a day of sunbathing or exploring, would recommend grabbing some kayaks and going round to the beach around the cove – was wonderful to just float around in the sun!” – @mills_whitehead

4. Cavelossim Beach – Goa, India
Traveller tip: “Cavelossim Beach is clean and absolutely pristine. We enjoyed the walks along the beach on the soft and clean sand with surf beating around our feet. The sunsets are glorious and you can even catch the sunrise on your early morning walks. The most exciting experience has been the pulling of the fishing nets and gathering fresh fish along with the local fishermen. I highly recommend this place. We made unforgettable memories. Loved each and every moment” – @Funtastic4ever

5. Agonda Beach – Goa, India
Traveller tip: “Agonda beach is beautiful and huge. It is lovely for walks or runs, and has a stunning view of the sunset. There are some shacks here so getting a meal is easy. Water sports are available as well. Definitely visit if you are in the area. Don’t expect a party beach…this is a lovely peaceful beach to relax.” – @MM0311

6. Nai Harn Beach – Phuket, Thailand
Traveller tip: “Nai Harn Beach is the best beach in Phuket. The reason is it’s a great beach for everyone. It’s swimmable for everyone. There is a shallow area at the end where fresh water meets the ocean. Babies and a few beach dogs love that side. You can enjoy a massage, plenty of restaurants, food stalls, shopping, and bathrooms. There is shade and sun.” -@jessica_41

7. Haeundae Beach – Busan, South Korea
Traveller tip: “This is a definite must do when in Busan, it also holds the Guinness record for the beach with most deck chairs and when things get back to normal which we all hope will happen soon you will see why, such a popular beach and well kept” – @WillRod321

8. Varca Beach – Goa, India
Traveller tip: “Beautiful quiet beach … perfect for some “me” time with the sea…. the beach has amazing soft sand … Clear waters that you see right thru .. no lifeguard around .. at least I could not spot one .. but lot of helpful staff at the shack” – @BhavanaS103

9. Karon Beach – Phuket, Thailand
Traveller tip: “Very good waves for surfing or body boarding. A relatively long beach if you want to go running. Plenty of restaurants and places to rent surfboards. Some shaded areas if you don’t want too much sun. Beautiful sunsets of course” – @steveb80525

10. Benaulim Beach – Goa, India
Traveller tip: “The place to be, especially in the morning, when you are in Benaulim. Beautiful, peaceful and a fab place for morning walks/jogs. The fishing is on in the early morning and evenings, you get to see the fishermen at work.” – @wanderlust210877
