‘Hopped up’: South Korea, New Zealand and China are the new global ‘hop’-spots.
Oktoberfest is here and travellers have beer on the brain. In fact, it seems that this isn’t the only time of year travellers are thinking about their craft beers and ales, as new data released today by TripAdvisor Experiences shows that travellers are moving beyond traditional favourites such as Germany and Belgium, and turning to South Korea (+564%), New Zealand (+258%) and China (+98%), for beer and pub tours.

What’s more, TripAdvisor data shows that travellers from Asia Pacific are increasingly quenching their thirst on holiday with a nice cold one on a beer or pub tour. Travellers from New Zealand shows biggest jump in bookings for beer experiences and pub tours, as bookings are up by 98% since last year, followed by Hong Kong (up 64%), India (up 60%) and Singapore (up 58%).
“Beer experiences and pub tours are getting really popular with travellers especially in Asia Pacific,” said Janice Lee Fang, Director of Communications, Asia Pacific. “Oktoberfest is definitely the ideal time to try one of the many beer and pub experiences that are bookable on TripAdvisor, whether it is a pub crawl at The Rocks in Sydney, a brewery and beer tasting tour in Singapore or a sake brewery tour in Kyoto.”
