Travel writers share writing and photography skills with over 300 students

Hong Kong Airlines reward students who excel in academic or other aspects with free air tickets to explore the world, meanwhile encouraging them to record touching moments of the trip by text and photos.

HONG KONG – Full-service airline, Hong Kong Airlines, organised a Photo Journal Workshop for students who joined “Embrace the World” Student Sponsorship Programme 2016/17 on 29 March 2017. Popular travel writers Mr Chan Chun Wai and Ms Ng Man Man were invited as guest speakers to share their writing and photography skills as well as travelling experience to over 300 students at the venue sponsored by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Hong Kong Airlines reward students who excel in academic or other aspects with free air tickets to explore the world, meanwhile encouraging them to record touching moments of the trip by text and photos. Students who win the tickets this year will travel with Hong Kong Airlines during April to August 2017. They are required to submit a photo travel journal with no less than 500 words and social media elements to Hong Kong Airlines after the trip. 10 journals will be selected according to criteria of “expression of the theme”, “storytelling skills”, “visual impact” and “overall creativity”. The authors of the 10 journals will be presented the “Best of the Best Student Award” and win the chance to join an overseas exchange tour organised by the Company.

Mr George Liu, Chief Marketing Officer of Hong Kong Airlines, said, “Inspired by the theme of New Generation, Free Thinking and Constant Reinvention, Hong Kong Airlines encourages the new generation to be bold in their thinking, to dream and to fly. We are thrilled that this Photo Journal Work was overwhelmed by a record-breaking number of more than 300 participants from schools and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Going forward, Hong Kong Airlines will strengthen its efforts in giving back to the society as a responsible corporate citizen, aiming at nurturing aviation talents and inspiring the younger generation to fly high and reach their dreams.”

Hong Kong Airlines “Embrace the World” Student Sponsorship Programme was firstly launched in 2014. Last year, the programme was expanded to cover 1,100 beneficiaries from schools and NGOs. So far, over 2,100 students who outstood in different areas were sponsored with complimentary air tickets to travel around. Earlier this year, the ten “Best of the Best Student Award” winners visited Gold Coast and Cairns in Australia, where they experienced the beautiful nature and culture, and learnt aviation knowledge at Gold Coast Airport.
