Tigerair Australia celebrates 18 millionth passenger milestone at Gold Coast Airport

Tigerair Australia Head of Communications Vanessa Regan says it’s an exciting time for the airline which continues to go from strength to strength.

Tigerair Australia celebrates flying its 18 millionth customer since domestic services first commenced in Australia in November 2007.

Tigerair Australia Head of Communications Vanessa Regan says it’s an exciting time for the airline which continues to go from strength to strength.

Gold Coast was the very first destination that Tigerair flew to from Melbourne back in November 2007 when the airline commenced operations in Australia, so it’s fantastic to be celebrating this significant milestone at Gold Coast Airport today as part of our eighth birthday celebrations.”

Gold Coast continues to grow in popularity as a year-round family and leisure favourite destination. The expansion of our services to Gold Coast over the past year reflects increased demand for more flights to the region,” said Ms Regan.

The lucky 18 millionth customer, Jacinta Mentes from Gold Coast, will be presented with an $800 travel voucher on arrival into Gold Coast Airport at 11:15am local time on flight TT 556 from Melbourne. She said she was “shocked and overwhelmed” when she found out she was the 18 millionth passenger.

I’ve never won anything like this before and will put the travel voucher to good use to visit my family in Melbourne for Christmas.

Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton said the airport is delighted to be celebrating eight years of Tigerair services into the Gold Coast. “Today we celebrate and congratulate Tigerair on their eighth year of operation into the Gold Coast, its success reinforcing the appeal of the Gold Coast as one of the favourite destinations of choice for domestic travel,” Ms Charlton said.

After commencing services to the Gold Coast in 2007, Tigerair has carried more than 3.4 million passengers through the Gold Coast. We look forward to our continued partnership with Tigerair into the future” added Ms Charlton.

Tigerair Australia currently flies up to four daily return services (each way) between Melbourne and Gold Coast and up to five daily return services between Sydney and Gold Coast. Additional services on both routes have been recently added to cater for consumer demand for more services.
