The St. Regis Bangkok unveils Thai boxing ring

First five-star hotel in Bangkok to offer Thai boxing ring

Bangkok, Thailand — Tapping into the global popularity of Thai boxing (Muay Thai), the St. Regis Bangkok announced the addition of the first Thai boxing ring in a five-star Bangkok hotel. To coincide with the boxing ring’s debut, the hotel also launched a new wellness program incorporating authentic training experiences, developed by an on-staff expert and the hotel’s Executive Chef Chris Miller.

“Thai boxing is the national sport of Thailand and has grown in popularity around the globe. The St. Regis Bangkok is proud offer guests an on-staff Thai boxing instructor, Mr. Boonsanong Borchae or, Coach Jack as he is referred to by students ­ who provides guests with an elevated training experience”, said Ms. Marta Martin, Hotel Manager of The St. Regis Bangkok. Coach Jack, who also privately trains local celebrities, brings more than 15 years of Thai boxing expertise to the hotel and holds a degree in Sport Science.

Thai boxing is steeped in tradition and known as the “Art of Eight Limbs” for its combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins. During customized training sessions tailored for beginners through skilled practitioners, Coach Jack guides participants on the traditions, rituals and customs of the sport. The training focuses on precision and safety while ensuring full enjoyment of their Thai boxing immersion. Complimentary equipment is provided (fitted gloves and knee pads) along with water and fresh towels.

The new Thai boxing ring was designed to provide function with an eye towards a safe and authentic experience, with padded floors, ropes and corners. The ring is located within the 15th floor Wellness Center, which features an array of TechnoGym ellipticals, treadmills and stationary bikes; free weights; TRX suspension trainers; exercise mats and foam rollers.
