Thailand is hoping to forge mutual tourism promotion links with Hong Kong, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak revealed.

Emerging from talks with his Hong Kong counterpart Mr. Henry Tang, Mr. Somkid said that the forging of tourism links between Thailand, Hong Kong and China would lead to an influx of visitors to Thailand, including some of the 12 million mainland Chinese who visit Hong Kong each year.

Hong Kong`s tourism potential is expected to shoot up at the end of the year when it becomes home to the latest Disneyland venture.

Last year 723,874 Hong Kong residents visited Thailand, up 4.7 percent on the previous year.

Thailand is also hoping to form mutual tourism promotion proposals with the Indochina region, Mr. Somkid said.
