Thailand and Laos plan to establish an online computer system to regulate and monitor cross border movements and to reduce the flow of illegal drugs, according to Thai government officials.

The two sides agreed on the scheme at a bilateral meeting on Saturday, the head of the Thai delegation and head of the border immigration, Pol. Lt.

Gen. Charnwut Watchapug.

The Thai delegation also presented a water-cooler and pharmaceuticals to the Lao delegation.

The two countries joint efforts to promote tourism have resulted in a rising number of tourists crossing the Thai-Laos border each year.

Local immigration officials have requested more staff to improve the service to tourists and the public at the border crossings, Pol. Lt. Gen. Charnwut said.
