BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) clarifies flight TG671 diversion to Osaka International Airport from its original route Sapporo to Bangkok.

Flt.Lt. Pratana Patanasiri, THAI Vice President of Aviation Safety, Security & Standards Department, said that the pilot of flight TG671 diverted to Osaka International Airport when the computer screen indicated an electrical system warning notification while the aircraft was flying at cruising level. The Boeing 777-300 aircraft earlier departed from Sapporo’s New Chitose International on 12 January 2016 at 10:55 hours (local time) and scheduled to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 16:45 hours. The Bangkok-bound flight was carrying 133 passengers, three pilots, and 16 cabin crew members.

In maintaining the highest safety standards in flight operation, the pilot landed the aircraft at Osaka’a Kansai International Airport for a system check, while THAI staff escorted and attended to passengers’ comfort in the rest area of the airport. After the electrical system check, the aircraft was permitted to depart Kansai International Airport at 15.32 hours (local time), with new arrival time at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 20:15 hours.

THAI apologizes for the flight delay and inconvenience caused.

THAI operates one daily outbound flight (TG670) from Bangkok to Sapporo at 23:55 hours and arrives at Sapporo at 08:20 hours (local time) the following day. The inbound flight (TG671) departs from Sapporo at 10:55 hours (local time) and arrives in Bangkok at 16:45 hours.
