Successful strategic partnership between Carlson Rezidor and Panorama Delivers four new deals in Indonesia

Significant progress has been made within a year of the signing. To date, four new hotel deals have been signed – Radisson Bali Uluwatu, Radisson Batam, Park Inn by Radisson Lampung and Park Inn by Radisson Makassar.

SINGAPORE – Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group and Panorama Group signed a strategic partnership in Berlin a year ago, presided over by Indonesia’s Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, Dr Mari Elka Pangestu. The strategic partnership will see the development of 20 Radisson and Park Inn by Radisson hotels within seven years in attractive tourist destinations and top tier cities including Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya and Yogyakarta, as well as emerging cities such as Manado, Makassar, Palembang and Medan.

Both companies are expecting to sign another six to eight new deals in 2014. Recently, the joint entity PT. Carlson Panorama Hospitality established an office in Jakarta to further accelerate its growth in Indonesia.

“Indonesia currently has the fifth largest pipeline of hotel rooms in the world and the third largest pipeline in Asia Pacific. Domestic and international travel are both gaining ground and the country is expected to become the world’s seventh largest economy, with 135 million consumers representing a USD$1.38 trillion market opportunity, by 2030,” said Simon C. Barlow, president, Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “This is a growth market for hotels, travel and tourism and we are pleased that after just one year, our strategic partnership with Panorama Group has already begun to bear fruit. The rapid pace of development bears testimony to our confidence in Indonesia and reinforces our conviction that the decision to partner with Panorama was timely, strategic and mutually-beneficial. We are looking forward to opening many more hotels with Panorama in Indonesia.

We are delighted with the results and progress of our JV with Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group and the fast track of our development plans. Partnering with a global hotel company as Carlson Rezidor not only provides additional comfort to hotel investors but it also supports our efforts to promote and increase the awareness of Indonesia as a top international tourism destination,” said Budi Tirtawisata, Group CEO Panorama Group.

Dr Mari Elka Pangestu, Minister of Indonesia’s Tourism and Creative Economy, said, “There was a significant increase in tourism investment in 2012, reaching 210 percent as compared to 2011. It is a fact that Indonesia is a promising country for hotel investment.
