STR and STR Global, along with the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Education (ICHRIE) have announced the formation of the SHARE Center (Supporting Hotel-related Academic Research and Education).
The mission of the center is to provide thorough and timely data for academic research and to provide comprehensive and relevant training materials for the classroom.
“The SHARE Center is a maturation and formalization of STR’s commitment to the academic community,” said Steve Hood, senior VP of research at STR and director of the Center. “The SHARE Center will provide a high degree of support to all hospitality and tourism schools around the world. We are very excited to work with educators and to reach out to the next generation of leaders in the hospitality industry.”
The combined effort with ICHRIE is a natural partnership.
“Hospitality educators want students to become industry leaders who use reliable, comprehensive data to make their decisions, and I can think of no better place to get that data than from STR,” said Cynthia Deale, president of ICHRIE. “The new SHARE Center offers educators valuable tools for teaching that will help develop students’ skills for their future careers.”
The SHARE Center will launch 10 January 2011 and will offer a half-year, half-price membership to universities who are current ICHRIE members for the spring 2011 semester. This will be a great way for schools to get an introduction to the materials, publications, reports and data.
The first group of schools who take advantage of this initial offer also will have the opportunity to be involved in an advisory capacity. There will be Train the Trainer sessions offered at ICHRIE’s summer conference in Denver from 27-30 July 2011.
