STR Global: Asia Pacific hotel pipeline for October 2015

Among the Chain Scale segments, the Upscale segment accounted for the largest portion of rooms Under Contract at 28.4% (160,467 rooms). Upper Upscale followed in largest portion of rooms Under Contract at 24.1% (135,914 rooms).

There are 2,438 hotels totalling 564,481 rooms Under Contract in the Asia Pacific region, according to the October 2015 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report. This represents a 3.0% increase in rooms Under Contract compared with October 2014, but a 2.1% year-over-year decrease in rooms under construction. The Under Contract data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Unconfirmed stage.
 
The region reported 257,416 rooms in 1,037 hotels under construction for the month.
 
Among the Chain Scale segments, the Upscale segment accounted for the largest portion of rooms Under Contract at 28.4% (160,467 rooms). Upper Upscale followed in largest portion of rooms Under Contract at 24.1% (135,914 rooms).
 
The Upscale segment also accounted for the largest portion of rooms In Construction (28.7% with 73,793 rooms), followed by Upper Upscale (23.7% with 60,965 rooms).
