Star Cruises recognized for its Michelin-starred cuisine at the 16th China Hotel Industry Golden Horse Awards ceremony

The China Hotel Industry Golden Horse Awards honours the hotel industry’s finest achievements and recognises the latest hotel industry trends for the year.

HONG KONG – Star Cruises, the leading cruise line in Asia-Pacific, was honoured with the “The Most Michelin Food Provided Cruise” Award at the prestigious 16th China Hotel Industry Golden Horse Awards.

Perennially acknowledged as offering exceptional dining and culinary experiences on board its fleet, Star Cruises continues to provide guests with memorable and delectable cuisines from across the region and around the world. As the recipient of “The Most Michelin Food Provided Cruise” Award, Star Cruises was recognised for its continuing partnerships with a series of Michelin-starred Restaurants on board SuperStar Virgo, including Kam’s Kitchen, Sun Tung Lok and Ye Shanghai, offering premium Shanghai and Cantonese cuisine, as well as Hong Kong specialty roast items.

Seeking to raise the culinary bar even further, Star Cruises will soon launch its latest collaboration with Michelin Bib Gourmand Restaurant, Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao, offering a variety of signature dishes on board SuperStar Virgo featuring Steamed Pork Dumplings “Shanghai” Style, Smoked Pomfret Fillet and “La Mian” Noodles with Dried Shrimp and Peanut in Spicy Sauce. Starting this April, guests travelling on board SuperStar Virgo from her homeport in Guangzhou will have the chance to go on a gastronomic adventure with Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao while enjoying Okinawa’s scenic coastal landscape and local delicacies including wagyu beef or fresh seafood as the ship journeys to Miyakojima and Naha in Japan.

Across the fleet, Star Cruises offers a wide range of award-winning cuisines created with the finest ingredients, ranging from Cantonese and Western dishes to Asian delicacies and more. Star Cruises’ award-winning chefs remain dedicated and passionate in delivering top-notch, quality cuisine, garnering numerous international awards for their commitment to culinary excellence including the chefs of SuperStar Libra winning 25 awards at the 2nd Penang International HALAL Chefs Challenge 2015 held in February last year, highlighted by one gold medal in the Western Main course category. Star Cruises chefs also made headlines with their impressive and successful debut at the highly acclaimed World Master Chefs Competition for Cantonese Cuisine, held in November last year, sweeping the competition with three medals, including the highest accolade of the Supreme Gold Medal in the Fruit & Vegetable Carving Category, as well as two Excellent Gold Medals in the Hot Cooking Category.

These regional and international competitions, coupled with Star Cruises’ ongoing collaboration with the Michelin-starred restaurants, provide the perfect platform and opportunity for Star Cruises’ chefs to constantly push gastronomic boundaries, innovate and showcase their culinary skills, as well as learn from the very best and stay ahead with the latest culinary techniques and trends – reinforcing Star Cruises as the ultimate culinary destination at sea.

The China Hotel Industry Golden Horse Awards honours the hotel industry’s finest achievements and recognises the latest hotel industry trends for the year. The awards selection was decided by independent parties of the Organising Committee through integrated evaluations from the Tourism Research Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Professional Institute of Peking University and Jones Lang LaSalle, as well as public votes, consumer sampling surveys and the judge panel’s vote.
