Latest figures from DIIO, a business intelligence company for the aviation industry, shows that international scheduled seat capacity to Southeast Asia in 2013 is growing 8% year-on-year, followed by Africa (+6%) and West Asia (+5%). Economic uncertainties in the Euro zone and USA continue to constrain overall supply growth for the Americas (0%) and Europe (-3%).
Robust increases in capacity for Southeast Asia are being driven largely by supply expansion within the sub-region. Growing supply from Northeast Asia comes in second. With the exception of the decreased scheduled air seat servicing from Europe, the remaining origin markets show positive expansion in 2013, with West Asia (+15%) leading the pack in terms of growth.
