Small Luxury Hotels of the World appoints Area Director, Asia Pacific

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has appointed travel industry expert Alison Roberts-Brown as Area Director, Asia Pacific.  Ms Roberts-Brown, who will be based in Australia, will be responsible for overseeing business development, hotel relations and the operations of the SLH Regional Office in Sydney.

Paul Kerr, Chief Executive Officer of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, said: “This appointment reinforces our commitment to the Asia Pacific region and demonstrates our strength in this market.  With over 20 years experience, Ms Roberts-Brown will complement the strong team of industry professionals in the Sydney office and will help provide strategic direction for the region.  She brings with her an extensive knowledge of the travel and tourism industry and a strong business network, as well as a deep understanding of cultural differences across the region.”

Ms Roberts-Brown joins the company at an exciting time as the luxury hotel brand continues to go from strength to strength across all areas of the business.  With over 440 hotels in 70 countries, including 74 new hotels in the last year, SLH was recently voted the number one luxury hotel brand and also the luxury brand that offers the “Best Customer Experience”, by the New York-based Luxury Institute.  Despite the global economic downturn, 2008 global reservations revenue year-to-date is up 14 percent on the same period last year.

Ms Roberts-Brown already has in-depth knowledge of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World brand, and the properties in its portfolio, having worked for nearly two years for the company’s representative office in Japan in her capacity as Executive Vice-President at AVIAREPS Marketing Garden.  She also has extensive experience at senior management level in the travel and tourism industry having worked for major luxury hotel brands including The Charming Hotels, Relais & Chateaux and Trusthouse Forte’s Exclusive Collection of 5 star hotels, as well as airlines, cruise operators and government tourist organisations.  Fluent in Japanese, Ms Roberts-Brown has published a book in Japanese on the subject of travel.
