Singapore Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines expand codeshare agreement

Extended cooperation between Singapore Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines through codeshare agreement for routes in Africa and Australia.

SINGAPORE – From 3 December 2013, Singapore Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines customers will be able to enjoy seamless travel to more destinations as a result of an expanded codeshare agreement between the Star Alliance partners.

Under the agreement, codesharing will be expanded to Ethiopian Airlines-operated flights between Singapore and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital, via Bangkok.

On a reciprocal basis, Ethiopian Airlines will codeshare on Singapore Airlines-operated flights beyond Singapore to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney in Australia.

Singapore Airlines will also codeshare on Ethiopian Airlines-operated intra-Africa flights from Addis Ababa to Pointe-Noire in the Republic of the Congo, Accra in Ghana, Mombasa and Nairobi in Kenya, Kigali in Rwanda, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Entebbe in Uganda in the coming weeks, subject to regulatory approvals.

The airlines have been codesharing since November 2011 on flights between Addis Ababa and Dubai, and between Singapore and Dubai. The agreement was expanded in October 2012 to include flights between Addis Ababa and New Delhi, and between Singapore and New Delhi. Both airlines also expanded codesharing on flights between Addis Ababa and Bangkok, and between Singapore and Bangkok in July this year.
