The official destination website for Seychelles has moved to the international .travel domain following the destination`s unveiling of its new brand identity. THe move to the new domain comes as the Seychelles islands embark on an new direction for the promotion of the destination by focusing not only on the archipelago`s beaches but its diversity of activities and attractions as well.
The .travel domain is the new global standard for the travel and tourism industry, and we felt that we would make the move sooner rather than later, especially as we implement our new brand identity, said Herve Chang Yunn, the Seychelles Tourism Board`s manager for e-marketing. Among smaller countries around the world, Seychelles is one of the first to adopt the .travel domain.
As the travel industry and consumers continue to move toward the online arena in great numbers, consumer trust and the validity of services and information will become increasingly important issues and we felt we could address this with the .travel domain, Mr Chang Yunn added.
STB is retaining the previous syechelles.com address to automatically redirect browsers to the seychelles.travel address.
Along with a few new tweaks, we now have a fresh look to our site that incorporates everything we want the brand identity to communicate, said Ricky Henry, STB`s web programmer.
