The Director General of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem met high-profile delegations from the countries of Malaysia, Lebanon and Seychelles at the Dubai stand of the ATM 2006 and sought to review and promote bi-lateral trade and tourism relations with them.
The Malaysian delegation included the minister for Tourism Mr. Datouk Mansour, Director General of Tourism in Malaysia Mr. Dato Siaraf and Mr. Abdul Mubin Razali, Ambassador of Malaysia in the UAE.
Mr. Bin Sulayem also met Mr. Joseph Sarkis, Minister of Tourism in Lebanon and Mr. Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, Executive Chairman of Seychelles Tourism Board and reviewed bilateral relations, especially in the field of tourism.
Mr. Loustau Lalanne told Mr. Bin Sulayem that the Indian Ocean island with a population of 81,000 receives 800,000 visitors a year.
On his second visit to Dubai – his first visit was in 1981 – Mr. Maurice praised the growth and development of Dubai which he described as “amazing and incredible”.
He said the Seychelles Tourism board was participating at the ATM to promote the island nation to the Middle East region, especially the six AGCC member-states.
The visiting Malaysian delegation sought to boost its trade and tourism relations with Dubai .
Dubai and Seychelles , Malaysian and Lebanese tourism organizations agreed to exchange information and expertise in different areas to explore further avenues to promote destinations.
Mr. bin Sulayem briefed the visiting officials about the latest developments in the emirate and the promotional and marketing agenda of the department to put Dubai firmly on the world map.
