Seoul sets a new bar with Virtual Seoul 2.0

Seoul Convention Bureau (SCB) has made another big step in creating a digital resource for MICE industry of Seoul.

Seoul Convention Bureau has launched a renewed and upgraded 3D MICE event platform, Virtual Seoul 2.0. Four new venues added to provide exhibitions and pre-scheduled appointment (PSA) in addition to pre-existing functions brought the platform to another level that a total solution for MICE event be possible. Newly introducing Content Management System (CMS) allows event planners to customize their events to their preference at their fingertips without going through any IT staff. With the PLUS SEOUL support for online/hybrid events, event planners can utilize the platform at no extra cost thereby expands destination marketing of Seoul as an optimal MICE city.

Director at Seoul Tourism Organization, Jihyun Kim asserted, “The first version of Virtual Seoul received much attention locally and globally as an innovative case of destination marketing while travelling was strictly restricted. Since Virtual Seoul 2.0 was designed to cover most event types of the MICE industry it will serve a full function as an event platform capable of earning more hosting. Hybrid events are not a trend anymore but another format settling down in the field with ‘living with COVID’ days. As one of the pioneers in this new field, it is the time to be more active in marketing the platform.”

Starting with Coex, the most famous exhibition center of the country, another MICE infrastructure and tourist attraction sites made the venue list of Virtual Seoul 2.0; Nodeul Island, Seoul’s unique venue in Hangang river, Seoul City Hall and Seoul Tourism Plaza each serve an outdoor Exhibition Area, Open Stage and Business Meeting Room while Coex serves the same function on the platform. A total of nine venues in 3D graphic that are more sophisticated than previous platform not only serve various functions of MICE event but also become attractions themselves throughout day and night implementing the time zone of the host city. Related functions of exhibitions are also added such as scheduling business meetings including PSA between buyer and seller, exchanging digital business cards, and managing a booth with promotion videos and brochures.

In order to maximize convenience of utilizing the platform, CMS provides event organizing functions like setting to broadcast VODs and branding functions to post logos, banners, promotion video across the platform. Guide videos for setting a conference and corporate meeting, virtual exhibitions, PSA business meetings are uploaded to aid event planners and a demo page is open as well.
