SEC@GI lauded at EEAA 2015 Awards

As Finalist, Best Venue Team, SEC@GI was commended for its successful delivery of the 48th Sydney International Boat Show (SIBS).

SYDNEY, Australia – Crowning a second year of successful operations, Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island (SEC@GI) joined the industry’s outstanding achievers at the 2015 Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Awards for Excellence, as Finalist, Best Venue Team and Finalist, Best New Initiative – Venue. The industry’s premier gala event was held in Sydney last night.

It’s inspiring to see our team achieve amazing results,” said SEC@GI General Manager Malu Barrios. “These awards highlight our commitment to partnering clients in the achievement of their goals, with the team always reaching outside the box to overcome the challenges of an interim venue and keep the industry thriving.”

As Finalist, Best Venue Team, SEC@GI was commended for its successful delivery of the 48th Sydney International Boat Show (SIBS). The Boat Show is the largest recreational marine event in the southern hemisphere with complex challenges in just about every aspect of the event delivery, including providing the full experience in two locations.

Our team’s unprecedented involvement in planning activities, significant infrastructure changes undertaken and modifications in transport strategies and messaging all led to improved exhibitor and visitor experience and an increase in SIBS visitation,” said Barrios.

For its Finalist, Best New Initiative – Venue citation, SEC@GI was lauded for looking beyond a venue’s standard role of event execution in launching a marketing toolkit and support program that all clients could avail of to promote their events, at no cost. The program provides an array of platforms and tools and it has delivered significant measurable outcome; in some cases it spurred organisers to initiate new marketing activities.

We are always on the look out to enhance our offerings in our desire to be a pro-active ally to our clients, particularly amidst a challenging business environment,” said Barrios.

The industry’s “best of the best” in 16 categories went through rigorous screening by a panel of 30 independent Australian and international judges.
