Sands China earns ISO 9001:2015 certification

First integrated resort operator in Macao to earn 9001:2015; Company’s fourth ISO certificate to date.

MACAO – Sands China Ltd. has earned an ISO 9001:2015 certification for the quality management of its facilities department. The scope of the certification covers all Sands China properties — The Venetian Macao, The Plaza Macao, Sands Cotai Central, The Parisian Macao, and Sands Macao — a first for an integrated resort operator in Macao.

It is also the fourth ISO certificate for The Venetian Macao, which already holds an ISO 20121:2012 certification for its event sustainability management system, ISO 9001:2008 for the quality management system of its convention and exhibition services, and ISO 22000:2005 for its food safety management system.

Michael Naylor, senior vice president of facilities for Venetian Macau Limited, said: “It is with great pride that Sands China’s facilities department has received the ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification. With over a year of training, standardising and implementation of the quality management system, the teams within our department are beginning to reap the benefits of their efforts. Following standardised procedures is driving improved quality of workmanship and making our teams more efficient and cost-effective. With the successful rollout of the ISO 9001:2015 standard, this provides the base to launch further facilities initiatives.”

Naylor’s resort facilities team, which counts over 1,500 team members, is the first in Macao to meet the ISO 9001:2015 standard, making Sands China the first integrated resort operator in Macao to earn the certification.

As part of a family of standards overseen by the International Organisation for Standardisation, ISO 9001:2015 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and can be used by any organisation, large or small, regardless of its field of activity. The standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. Using ISO 9001:2015 helps ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products and services.

ISO certifications are awarded by the London-based British Standards Institution (BSI) Group, the world’s largest national standards and certification body, which audits and provides certification to companies worldwide who implement and comply with its management systems standards.
