The lack of the necessary infrastructure for the development of domestic and inbound tourism was mentioned by Vitaly Mutko, the Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy during the press conference on Monday.

“We take 53rd place for competiveness. The revenue from the tourism amounts to 2.5% of GDP”, announced Vitaly Mutko. According to the Minister, Russia still has bad roads and undeveloped infrastructure.

“In the first place it’s necessary to understand why the tourists should visit Russia. Certainly, we have St. Petersburg, Moscow, the Golden Ring – people come to visit architectural monuments, churches. However, Russia needs advertising campaign for domestic and inbound tourism”, said Ilya Umanskiy, General Director of Alean-tour.

There are also a lot of problems with the accommodation in Russia: the hotels’ capacities are rather modest, bad roads and etc. However, Winter Olympics 2014 and FIFA World Cup 2018 can help in development of inbound tourism. According to the experts, such major international events will be an important impulse for the improvement of the infrastructure of our country.
