Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific, regional headquarters of Minneapolis-based Carlson Hotels Worldwide, announced plans to develop a fourth Regent hotel for the region. Maintaining the momentum of their aggressive growth strategy, the company confirmed The Regent Bangkok Hotel & Residences is scheduled to open mid 2007.

Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific will manage the hotel, marking the return of this highly respected luxury hotel brand to Thailand`s capital after the 2003 re- branding of The Regent Bangkok to Four Seasons. Grande Asset Public Company Limited, owner and developer of this luxury hotel and residence complex located on Sukhumvit Road, will begin construction on this project in January 2005.

This state-of-the-art development comprises two separate high-rise towers, with the hotel The Regent Bangkok positioned in front of the residential condominium tower. The hotel will feature 327 luxurious rooms including 23 suites on 28 above-ground levels, while the residential development, branded The Regent Residences, will include 350 stylish condominiums.

World-renowned leading design consultants for the hospitality, leisure and entertainment industries, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG) California, will be working with Inter Arkitek Co. Limited in Bangkok on architecture and design for the space.

Superbly situated on Sukhumvit Road next to Soi 13, one of Bangkok`s prime business and entertainment districts, The Regent Bangkok Hotel & Residences will hold a prime position in the center of Bangkok, proving attractive to both corporate and leisure travelers. The location is near high-end retail centers, commercial offices and embassies, and provides easy access to Nana Skytrain and Sukhumvit subway stations.

With the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre nearby, coupled with the hotel`s substantial banquet facilities, The Regent Bangkok will also prove to attract the prestigious meeting, incentive and exhibition sector.

The Regent Bangkok will include five levels of public space featuring an extensive retail area, high-end restaurant and bar outlets, a 650-square- meter (7,000 sq. ft.) ballroom, parking area for 200 cars, and a roof-top health club with swimming pool and spa.

President and managing director of Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific, Paul Kirwin, commented, Our Regent brand revival strategy in the Asia Pacific region is centered on adding hotels in key gateway cities such as Bangkok. We are looking forward to working with Grande Asset Public Company Limited on this

project.

Regent International Hotels has established a global leadership position in the luxury hotel and resort industry by offering premier locations, elegant facilities and personalized service to the world`s most discerning travelers, Kirwin added. The Regent Bangkok Hotel & Residences hits this mark perfectly. Mr. Pongphan Sampawakoop, chairman of Grande Asset Development Public Company Limited, said, We are delighted to be working with Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific to return The Regent name to Bangkok. This brand has a strong reputation in Thailand and we believe the new hotel and location will make the project an unrivalled success.

This announcement follows three other hotel development announcements from Regent International Hotels made in the past eight months for the Asia Pacific region` The Regent Shanghai, The Regent Beijing and The Regent Ningbo (China).
