Since December 1, 2022, the resort introduced 10 baby bamboo sharks and 10 eggs into the shark tank, and on January 10, 2023, the resort was thrilled to celebrate the birth of three additional baby sharks.

PHUKET, THAILAND – Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort in partnership with Oceans for All foundation has initiated an innovative conservation effort to help protect bamboo sharks, an endangered species found in the reefs around Phuket. The resort has built a specialized shark tank where eggs are safely incubated and protected from predators allowing baby sharks to grow to a size where they can better survive in the wild.

Since December 1, 2022, the resort introduced 10 baby bamboo sharks and 10 eggs into the shark tank, and on January 10, 2023, the resort was thrilled to celebrate the birth of three additional baby sharks.

The General Manager of the resort, Mr. Vincent Delsol, said, “We are overjoyed to be playing a part in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem in Phuket with a healthy number of bamboo sharks in the reefs of Phuket.”

Bamboo sharks, also known as brown banded bamboo sharks, are a vulnerable species that is facing a number of threats, including overfishing, habitat destruction and pollution. The efforts by this resort, not only helps with the conservation of this endangered species but also helps to preserve the delicate balance of the marine ecosystem in Phuket.

The resort’s conservation program has already been met with praise from local and international organizations dedicated to the protection of endangered species and marine conservation.

This news is a positive step forward towards protecting bamboo sharks and other marine wildlife in Phuket, and it highlights the importance of community-based conservation efforts in preserving our oceans and the creatures that call it home.
