EVA, Shanghai Tourism launch Yangtze River Delta promotion

Program coincides with Expo 2010 Shanghai China

EVA Air and Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration (SMTA) have teamed up to promote travel to the Yangtze River Delta region. The cooperative program will include packages developed with key travel agents from North America, Taiwan and the Shanghai region, and coincide with Expo 2010 Shanghai China, May 1-Oct. 31, 2010.

“Travel between Taiwan and Mainland China has boomed since we introduced regular flights between Taiwan and China,” said James Jeng, EVA president. “Together, EVA and our UNI Air subsidiary have more flights between Taiwan and the Yangtze River Delta than any other airline.”

EVA and UNI Air fly to 14 destinations in China and offer more than 50 flights a week, including 24 to three major cities in the Yangtze River region, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo.

“EXPO 2010 Shanghai China will raise awareness of the Yangtze River Delta region as a tourism destination,” Said K.C. Su, SMTA representative. “EVA Air is known for its excellent service, extensive flight network and safety record. EVA Air and the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration will work with major travel agents in North America and Taiwan to create tour packages for visitors to enjoy the beauty of this region.”

EVA is specially outfitting one of its Boeing 747-400s with cabin accessories and service items such as head-rest covers, paper cups and food-service place mats to feature Expo 2010 Shanghai China images. Its in-flight magazine and informational videos will also highlight travel to the Yangtze River Delta region and Expo 2010 Shanghai China. The airline is beginning work with travel agents throughout North America to design tour packages that combine Taiwan and the Yangtze River Delta region in one itinerary.

The high-profile EXPO 2010 Shanghai China international exhibition is expected to attract an estimated 70 million visitors. From its North American gateways in Los Angeles, Newark/New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver, EVA offers more trans-Pacific flights, making easy one-stop connections via Taipei, Taiwan to China and more destinations throughout Asia than any other airline.
