PATA sets the stage for peace at youth workshop

Under the theme ‘Setting the Stage for Peace’, the half day workshop will take place in conjunction with the Global Peace Youth Exchange Thailand 2018.

BANGKOK – The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), supported by the Global Peace Foundation and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), will organise the Asia Pacific Youth & Sustainable Tourism Workshop on Wednesday, March 14 at the UN Building in Bangkok, Thailand.

Under the theme ‘Setting the Stage for Peace’, the half day workshop will take place in conjunction with the Global Peace Youth Exchange Thailand 2018. As sustainable tourism is a tool for peace and a huge driver in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the event aims to empower the next generation of leaders in the travel and tourism industry.

PATA CEO Dr. Mario Hardy said, “Youth engagement is essential for the sustainability of the travel and tourism industry, especially as we are seeing massive growth in the next decade. We remain committed to the development of the next generation of young tourism professionals and this interactive workshop is the perfect opportunity for young students and professionals to get a comprehensive view of the industry from a diverse range of speakers.”

Youth from across the globe will gather to join this interactive workshop which comprises speakers from various aspects of the industry including Arrut Navaraj, Managing Director – Sampran Riverside; Ediola Pashollari, Secretary General – World Assembly of Youth (WAY); Gili Back, Sustainability Manager – Khiri Travels; Ivan Cintado, VP Sales and Marketing APAC Region – Smartvel; JC Wong, Young Tourism Professional Ambassador – PATA; Madeleine Recknagel, Sustainability Consultant – The Sustainable Self; Marco Roncarati, Social Development Division – Social Affairs Officer, UNESCAP; Mark Wiens, Travel Eater – Migrationology; Mario Hardy, CEO – PATA; Michael Biedassek, Explorer/Connector – Bangkok Vanguards; Pai Somsak Boonkam, Founder – Local Alike; Siradej ‘Champ’ Donavanik, Co-Founder – Wonderfruit Festival; Veronika Forstmeier, Associate – Sustainability & Social Responsibility, PATA, and Yeqing (Victor) Li, President, Global Young Leaders Academy & Global Peace Youth.

Students enrolled in an educational institutional that is a PATA International member, PATA Student Chapter members and PATA YTP Student members receive complimentary access to the half day workshop.
