The Micronesia chapter of PATA, the Pacific Asia Travel Association, held its 2nd quarter membership meeting on Guam over a two-day period on December 13 and 14 at the Jesus and Eugenia Leon Guerrero Business Building on the Mangilao campus of the University of Guam.

The agenda, according to PATA Micronesia chapter chairman Dr. John Salas, covered Marketing, Education, and Special Project committee meetings on the first day with an executive meeting held the following day. The executive meeting was preceded by a luncheon, hosted by the Guam Visitors Bureau, and featuring keynote speakers Mr. Duncan Morris, Vice President of Research, and Ms. Sally Young, Executive Director for Sales and Marketing, both from CNN Asia. The topic of the speeches was “Destination Marketing in the Pacific Rim with Case Studies,” and included a special section focusing on Guam.

Members of the Guam Visitors Bureau, Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association, Guam Chamber of Commerce, Japan Guam Travel Association, Korea Travel Association, and community members attended the 2nd Quarter PATA Micronesia meeting which also included reports from participating NTOs like GVB.

The PATA Micronesia Chapter was awarded the prestigious Gold Award for its youth programs in 1999 and for best Chapter Excellence in 2004. Both PATA Micronesia and the 2nd Quarter meeting host, GVB, will participate in the PATA 2007 Gold Awards to be announced in January.
