PATA launches relief fund for victims of natural disasters

The Pacific Asia Travel Association has launched a disaster relief fund to assist those affected by this week’s natural disasters in south east Asia and the south Pacific. With so many lives lost, and damage caused, by the typhoons, earthquakes and tsunami across the region the Association is inviting its members and the general public to make contributions.

Donors may specify a particular disaster area or simply contribute to the general fund and allow PATA to assess how best to allocate the donations.

Donations may be made in US Dollars to:
ACCOUNT NAME: Pacific Asia Travel Association
BANK NAME: Bank of the West
BANK ADDRESS: 505 Montgomery St, San Francisco, CA 94111, USA
ACCOUNT NO: 773030408
SWIFT CODE: BWSTUS66

Arrangements are also being made to accept donations online using credit and debit cards. Further details will be posted next week on the PATA website home page.

PATA CEO Greg Duffell said,”It’s vitally important that we act quickly to raise much-needed funds to assist in the relief efforts. We’ve offered our advice and expertise to the Tourism Ministries and national tourism organisations in the destinations affected by these natural disasters. I’m now appealing to our members and the wider tourism community to contribute in a practical and meaningful way by supporting the PATA disaster relief fund.”
