TOKYO- The InterContinental Osaka will open its doors in mid-2013 in Japan’s second largest city. Situated in Umekita, the hotel will act as a contemporary hub of luxury and convenience amidst Osaka’s new metropolis.

The Grand Front Osaka, a new leading development that connects the Osaka and Umeda train stations, will house the 7th InterContinental hotel in Japan, and the first in Western Japan.
Located along major pedestrian crossroads which are expected to see more than 1.7 million passengers pass through per day, the Grand Front Osaka will be one of Japan’s largest city developments.

Part of Umekita’s 24-hectare development, the Grand Front Osaka combines office buildings, commercial outlets, academic and entertainment facilities, a condominium and hotel, and is scheduled to open by the ehd of second quarter of 2013.

With this strategic positioning and unique community design, the area is primed to become Osaka’s most sought after destination for both the luxury business and leisure traveller.

“Osaka is developing rapidly – there is now better connectivity between East and West Japan, and with the strengthening of Kansai International Airport as an aviation hub, the InterContinental Osaka will stand-out in what is one of IHG’s most important markets globally,” said Clarence Tan, Chief Executive Officer, IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan. “We are excited by the growth potential and feel privileged to be part of this prime development.” InterContinental Osaka spans across 17 levels and features 215 guest rooms, 57 serviced residences, four food and beverage outlets, four banquet and meeting rooms, a wedding chapel, a spa, and a fitness gym with an indoor pool, amongst other facilities.

Perfectly complementing its surroundings, the InterContinental Osaka exudes contemporary luxury with a combination of Japanese and international interior design tastes and natural materials. It will also feature exquisite art pieces from young upcoming artists from Osaka and Japan.

On top of the design, luxury offerings and overall comfort, first class service will be paramount to the hotel’s offerings. An InterContinental concierge team will be on hand to deliver the signature InterContinental concierge service with their personal insider, “In the Know” expertise, a hallmark of the InterContinental brand promise.

The hotel has appointed its General Manager, Hafidh Al Busaidy, who brings with him over 20 years of working across InterContinental hotels in the region.

“The InterContinental Osaka is strategically placed to deliver unique and authentic experiences to guests, rich in both contemporary and traditional Japanese culture and heritage,” said Al Busaidy. “The team will focus on bringing that ‘wow’ experience to our guests, from the moment they step into our hotel.”
