Onity’s new Advance RFID electronic locking solution

Just one month after the official launch of Onity‘s ADVANCE RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) contact-less electronic locking solution, 28 hotels and resorts in 12 countries have placed orders for the new locks, and installation has already begun at over half of those properties. Worldwide sales for ADVANCE RFID currently total nearly $1 million and represent over 5,000 hotel rooms in every region of the globe. Onity, one of the world’s leading providers of electronic locking solutions, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

Since the world’s first installation of Onity’s ADVANCE RFID locks took place in May at the Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, a luxury Caribbean resort in Mexico’s Riviera Maya region, the Latin American market has continued to lead worldwide orders of the product. In Mexico and Brazil alone, six properties with a total of over 2,100 guestrooms are scheduled to be installed between July and October. Other properties placing orders for Onity’s ADVANCE RFID locks are located in China, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hungary, France, Mauritius, Sweden, Ireland and the U.K.

“The unprecedented worldwide success of our ADVANCE RFID product launch indicates international acceptance of Onity’s RFID locking solution in the hotel industry and suggests a trend toward more advanced security technology overall,” said Mark Gordon, Onity’s president. “We are extremely pleased with our initial sales and continue to receive orders from every region. This is a testament not only to our superior quality and advanced technology, but to a coordinated effort from our worldwide sales team.”

ADVANCE by Onity is a modular two-piece locking system that allows hoteliers to easily upgrade to the latest security technology without replacing the entire lock. The RFID reader technology is the most recent option to be added to the ADVANCE line.

ADVANCE RFID was engineered with the most advanced, secure and reliable reader technology, which is MiFare and NFC (Near Field Communication) compatible, and meets the most stringent standards in the industry, including ISO14443A, ISO14443B, and ISO18092. It is also BHMA 156.25 and BHMA 156.13 certified.

The ADVANCE line features a selection of aesthetic options, including designer finishes, handle styles, and cover plates that allow hoteliers to blend the guest room door locks into any hotel decor. The modular design also allows a cost-effective upgrade path, making it easy and affordable to keep up with the latest security technology as it evolves.
