One World Hotel arms its concierge with iPad

The 5-star One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya, has started equipping its Concierge staff with an iPad to help with guest query. The idea behind this innovative service is to improve guest experiences and assist business and leisure travelers to be better acquainted with their surroundings especially for those visiting the city or country for the first time.

The iPad is outfitted with useful applications that assist the concierge staff in answering guest inquiries supported by accurate visuals such as enhanced maps and directions with detailed walking routes. Guests can browse through the hotel’s amenities and facilities, peruse the different food & beverage outlets and look through the city’s list of local attractions. With the availability of Google maps on the iPad, guests can easily locate their destination as well as browsing through interactive websites of tourist attractions around the city.

This new initiative aims to make interaction with guests in a more fun and entertaining way. It also allows our concierge team to be more efficient and mobile, allowing them to walk around the hotel while still being able to access the information needed by guests.

“It’s easy and fun for our guests. They don’t have to strain across the Concierge counter when asking for information. Our guests can be seated comfortably while they search for the needed information.  By not being stationed at their behind-the-counter desktop computers, concierges are able to roam around the lobby to assist their customers, creating a less static method of customer service. Usually, the hotel concierge will use the iPad to show guests maps and directions to local points of interest or visually highlight things to do near the hotel. Places to eat are the most common requests”
added Florence Leong, assistant director of communications.

In addition, daily complimentary shuttle service to the nearby LRT station at Kelana Jaya and to KL Sentral, Petronas Twin Towers and Sunway Lagoon Theme Park is offered to all registered room guests.  This service makes One World Hotel nearer to downtown Kuala Lumpur and most convenient for guests who wish to spend a day in the various tourists spots and shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur and for those who have business appointments.
