New airlines are expected for Kuala Lumpur Airport

Four or five more airlines are expected by Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd to add Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to their destinations network this year as the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) reported. MAHB managing director Datuk Seri Bashir Ahmad without naming the airlines stated that the company is still at the talking stage.

Currently, 53 international airlines are flying to KLIA, including seven added last year, he told reporters at the launch of KLIA’s 10th anniversary celebrations on Monday (7 January 2008).

“KLIA expects a five to six percent increase in the volume of passengers using the airport this year,” added Datuk Seri Bashir Ahmad. Last year, the passenger volume was 26 million, including seven million who utilised the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal, he cocnluded.
