New air service announced as a result of Routes

UBM Aviation Routes Limited is delighted to announce another successful route has been agreed as a direct result of attendance at one of its events, Routes Asia, which was held in Incheon, South Korea earlier this year.

Thai Airways International (THAI) and Brussels Airport have announced the introduction of direct flights between Bangkok-Brussels. THAI will be the only South East Asian carrier to serve non-stop flights between Belgium and Thailand, starting from November 17th 2011 onwards.

Leon Verhallen, Head of Aviation Marketing at Brussels Airport states “We have been in talks with Thai for several years to add to the growing Star hub at BRU. At Routes Asia, THAI announced as part of their Route Exchange briefing, that 3 weekly frequencies became available for Europe. We saw many airports competing for this. We are very pleased that our relationship with Thai, with frequent Routes meetings, has resulted in today’s announcement”.

David McMullen, Business Development Director for Routesonline commented “We are delighted that the Route Exchange briefings that are held at Routes events, act as a clear and effective tool for airlines achieving real success in their network development plans and in helping our airport clients to gain real results”.

THAI will operate 3 flights per week departing Bangkok on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and departing Brussels the same day. The direct flights from Brussels to Bangkok will enable all passengers to connect into THAI’s extensive network in Asia & Australasia, via Bangkok.

The new route will be operated by B777-200ER aircraft with 30 business class and 262 economy class seats, all with the latest in-flight entertainment systems.

The new flights between Bangkok and Brussels will be available for booking in July 2011.

This year’s World Routes, the global meeting place for every airline, airport and aviation stakeholder will take place in Berlin, Germany, 2-4 October 2011. Both Brussels Airport and THAI have already confirmed their attendance.
