The Marketing Assistance for Sustainable Tourism Products (MAST) – Nepal was launched in Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, by Mr. Madhav Ghimire, Secretary – Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, amidst a function conducted by Nepal Tourism Board among all the major stakeholders of tourism, government officials, private sector and donor organizations.

Chief guest at the launching ceremony Secretary of MoCTCA Mr. Ghimire appreciated the efforts of NTB, while Chief Executive Officer of NTB Mr. Tek Bahadur Dangi expressed hope and enthusiasm in starting the new project. Adviser of the Delegation of European Commission to Nepal Mr. Giap Dang, Program Officer of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Ms. Garette E. Clark, Country Director from SNV-Nepal Mr. Mathias Moyersoen, Assistant Resident Representative from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Mr. Vijay Singh and Director of Tourism Marketing at NTB and focal person of the MAST -Nepal Mrs. Nandini Lahe Thapa, also spoke at the inauguration program. The launching program was preceded by a 3-day workshop among the MAST -Nepal focal persons and representatives from partner organizations, where the details of the project were shared and discussed.

The main objective of the project is to expand business opportunities for sustainable tourism entrepreneurs in Nepal by helping them tap into the fast growing international market for sustainable tourism products, with a particular emphasis on facilitating strong links with the European market.

NTB in partnership with the UNEP, SNV -Nepal and with support from Leeds Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, developed the Marketing Assistance for Sustainable Tourism (MAST – Nepal) project. It is a 2-year project with funding by the European Commission`s Asia-Invest Program.
