Navtech sees variety in customers choosing its flight planning product

Navtech, a leader in flight operations software and services, has signed agreements with airlines in Canada and Indonesia for its acclaimed Flight Planning product (NFP). The agreements, which increase Navtech’s worldwide presence, are with fast-growing Indonesian airline Mandala Airlines and Quebec-based Pascan Aviation.

“These new agreements show the diversity of the clients Navtech is able to serve, but there’s an important common denominator here: these airlines are committed to conducting efficient and economic operations, while still keeping safety at the forefront,” said Navtech CEO Mike Hulley“Navtech is fast becoming known for its ability to provide the kind of high quality products that help airlines to manage costs, improve productivity, and maximize safety at very competitive prices.”

Jakarta-based Mandala Airlines has one of the highest levels of safety and quality assurance within Indonesia.  Operating an all Airbus fleet, the carrier is growing at a rate of 25% per year.  Juggling growth and maintaining its commitment to safety makes product choices particularly critical for the airline.

“Mandala evaluated several options for a Flight Planning provider, with a central focus on improved operational efficiencies and Flight Safety,” said Mandala’s COO, Stephen Wilks. “Navtech’s flight planning application, NFP, offered us the best solution allowing us to optimize fuel and payload on a daily flight-by-flight basis in a safe and efficient manner.”

Further north in Quebec, Pascan Aviation has chosen NFP for its first use of flight planning software.  The upstart airline is establishing regional service that links population centers in Quebec, improving tourism and igniting business synergies. Effective flight planning is critical to swiftly managing the challenges of navigating a province the size of France, Spain and the Netherlands combined as safely and efficiently as possible.

NFP has long been popular product for providing users with complete control over their flight planning process, enabling them to reduce operating costs, increase productivity, and maximize safety.  Mandala and Pascan will be using the new release of NFP which includes a comprehensive Flight List that streamlines work for planners.  When a flight is selected from the list – populated with every flight in the airline’s system – the user will see the route on the map panel without having to open a new screen. One click opens the selected flight in the Plan screen and planners can begin to work on the flight and finalize the operational flight plan.
