MGTO continuously coordinates and tackles various tasks in the aftermath of the typhoon

The Macao Special Administrative Region Government has announced official cancellation of a range of public and festive events including the 29th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest this year.

Macao Government Tourism Office(MGTO) is making unreserved efforts to coordinate and handle various tasks in the wake of the typhoon.

MGTO maintains communication with the travel trade to gain an update of the status of water and power supply among local hotels and guest houses, while assigning inspectors to patrol different ports of entry in Macao for prompt awareness of the latest situations.

Devastated by the typhoon, various roads and facilities were damaged in Macao while public transportation, water and power supply as well as catering services have not been fully restored yet. The whole city is now committed to the work of recovery from the typhoon. Therefore, the Office urges visitors to carefully reconsider their planned upcoming trips to Macao. If they have made a room reservation or are planning to make a room reservation in Macao, they are advised to check with the respective hotels for their latest situations.

MGTO has requested local travel agencies to suspend their arrangements of tour groups to Macao from 25 August until 30 August, so that more resources can be allocated for the restoration work after the catastrophe.

Since the hit of Typhoon Hato, MGTO has received 22 enquiries, complaints and suggestions regarding visitor itineraries, taxi service and travel agency service as well as hotel room rate.

In addition, the Trophy Design Contest, Photo Contest, Student Drawing Contest and Fireworks Carnival of the 29th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest have been canceled in accord.
