Melbourne on track for strongest incentive year on record

MCB has had a flying start to 2016 securing considerable incentive wins for Melbourne. These incentive travel programs will inject an estimated $50.3 million into the Victoria economy and attract in excess of 9,500 delegates over the next two years.

Melbourne Convention Bureau announced that it is heading towards closing the 15/16 financial year as one of the strongest incentive years on record.

Karen Bolinger, CEO, Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) announced at IMEX Frankfurt that MCB has surpassed its target considerably, announcing four major incentive travel group wins for the state.

We have achieved a 42 per cent increase in incentive travel business secured on last financial year, and the year isn’t even over yet,” Ms Bolinger said.

MCB has had a flying start to 2016 securing considerable incentive wins for Melbourne. These incentive travel programs will inject an estimated $50.3 million into the Victoria economy and attract in excess of 9,500 delegates over the next two years and will include:
– China Life Insurance 2016
– Taiwan Life Insurance 2016
– Perfect China 2017
– AIA Hong Kong Insurance 2018

Ms Bolinger said that Perfect China 2017 is a major coup for Victoria and Melbourne.

Perfect China will be one of the largest incentive travel reward groups in Victoria, and will bring 6,000 delegates to our city and regional areas, contributing $33.4 million to the economy.

Delegates will arrive in stages in June 2017, for a five-day program.

MCB tailored a unique itinerary to appeal to the specific interests of the group, incorporating a program of bespoke experiences.

Thanks to our ‘Team Melbourne’ collaborative approach, commitment to developing the perfect itinerary and the city’s ability to host a group of this size, Melbourne was chosen as the ideal location for Perfect China,” Ms Bolinger said.

The AIA Hong Kong Insurance, China Life Insurance and Taiwan Life Insurance groups combined will contribute $16.9 million to economy and bring 3,650 delegates to the state.

Voted as the world’s most liveable city for five consecutive years Melbourne is a clear stand out as an incentive travel destination. We have endless attractions, a thriving shopping culture, ease of access to regional areas, stable economy and a safe and friendly city.

As a full service bureau MCB goes above and beyond to ensure delegates have a seamless and memorable experience, with a presence during the bid stage right through to on ground support when the group is in Melbourne.

We’re excited to host these delegates, who have all worked incredibly hard to be rewarded with a Melbourne experience,” Ms Bolinger said.

MCB collaborated with hotels, attractions, venues, retail and food and beverage partners, to assist in securing the wins.
