Marriott International partners with China’s leading international Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions event

Marriott International hosted the official opening ceremony at Shanghai Marriott Hotel Parkview on 14 April 2015. In the main exhibition venue, the group also showcases MICE offerings at 25 Marriott International hotels in China.

BEIJING, China – Marriott International is partnering this year’s IT&CM China, the country’s leading international Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) business, educational and networking event, staged from 14 -16 April 2015.

The 3-day event at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of Strategic Sourcing is dedicated to “Promoting China to the World and the World to China”. The prominent platform brings together 700 Chinese and international MICE exhibitors, conference organizers & corporate buyers in one dynamic marketplace of MICE venue showcases, seminars, structured business appointments and networking functions and tours.

Marriott International hosted the official opening ceremony at Shanghai Marriott Hotel Parkview on 14 April 2015. In the main exhibition venue, the group also showcases MICE offerings at 25 Marriott International hotels in China. Networking cocktail receptions for prominent MICE organizers are additionally being hosted at Marriott Shanghai Parkview and JW Changfeng Park.

As well as showcasing latest meeting products and facilities at some of China’s leading MICE venues, Marriott International is also introducing an innovative new concept for meetings – Meetings Imagined (www.meetingsimagined.com) that allows meeting planners to design the meeting with the purpose in mind. Marriott International’s research discovered that there are seven purposes for meetings: celebrate, decide, educate, ideate, network, produce and promote to make events more visual, social and purposeful.

Marriott International has been observing the way planners interact with hotels when they organize events. We aspire to provide something different to address specific needs and requirements in the planners’ journey. Meetings Imagined is an approach to planning meetings focused on the purpose of the meeting. It reinvents the planning process to be more visual, social and purposeful.” said Lawrence Ng, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Greater China. “The concept leads the trend for unique meeting experiences, helping meeting planners design and execute their meetings in creative ways to inspire results.

Meetings Imagined will change the way how event professionals create events in the near future by providing access to hundreds of inspirational images and enables collaboration by allowing consumers and associates to create and share sets of favorite ideas through social media and email.

Meetings Imagined is being presented at IT&CM China both at seminars and more intimate ‘campfire’ for smaller groups under the theme: ‘People inspired, Marriott delivered: a differentiated approach for planning successful impactful meetings based on purposes.

Marriott International is also introducing Asia’s MICE planners and organizers to its innovative Meeting Services App that allows meeting planners to request, respond and connect in real time.

Along with one of the top inventories of MICE venues in China, Meetings Imagined and the Meeting Services App also underlines Marriott’s leadership as a conceptual and technology innovator in this fast-growing MICE market. In addition to the website, event planners can collaborate on event creation with Marriott International’s Meetings Imagined specialists across Asia-Pacific.” added Mr. Ng.

Marriott International continues to grow its portfolio of 76 hotels in China spanning six lodging brands: The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels, Renaissance, Courtyard, Marriott Executive Apartment.

In Shanghai alone, Marriott operates 21 hotels – the largest portfolio of 4-5 star international hotel groups in the city with a 39% market share of room inventory.

Marriott’s portfolio footprint is increasingly extending beyond major metropolis hubs to China’s fast-emerging second and third-tier cities. By end of 2019, Marriott International expects to be more than double in size in China from 76 open hotels today to a total of over 160 hotels.
