Malindo Air selects Sabre to support network expansion

Over 100,000 Sabre-connected travel agents now have access to Malindo Air’s expanding fares and ancillary content, covering 40 domestic and intra-regional routes.

SINGAPORE – Sabre Corporation, the leading technology provider to the global travel industry announced that it has been selected by Malaysian hybrid carrier Malindo Air to expand their distribution across the Sabre agency network.

Over 100,000 Sabre-connected travel agents now have access to Malindo Air’s expanding fares and ancillary content, covering 40 domestic and intra-regional routes. These include Malindo Air’s recent addition of new services to Perth.

Chandran Rama Muthy, Chief Executive Officer of Malindo Air said, “Sabre is the core pillar of our B2B strategy, giving us the opportunity to compete for new business in both the low cost and premium sectors. We have much to offer the Sabre Travel Network in Asia Pacific and look forward to working with agents to promote our hybrid proposition, with Sabre technology providing a superior booking and fulfilment experience.

A joint venture between Malaysia’s National Aerospace and Defence Industries and Lion Air of Indonesia, Malindo Air currently operates from Kuala Lumpur’s second airport at Subang. The carrier is, however, considering new routes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

This region’s Sabre-connected travel agents appreciate Malindo Air’s increasing choice of low cost and premium service options,” said Hans Belle, Sabre Travel Network Asia Pacific vice president for supplier commerce and strategic partnerships. “They are now able to access the region’s extensive travel agency community which will stimulate demand for this ambitious carrier. We are delighted to be their partner of choice and wish them every success with their expansion plans.
