Following the Oct 1st incident in Bali, several key media in Malaysia have joined hands to show their support for the plight that has hit the peace loving people of Bali. The New Straits Times Press Berhad and its group of newspapers, together with Malaysia`s top private television channel, TV3 and its sister company 8TV, are calling out for Malaysians to Don`t turn Your Back on Bali. The Group will work with AirAsia, the region`s leading low fare airline, to launch a program to promote and encourage tourism to once again flourish in the island.

Don`t turn Your Back on Bali, will be officially launched on 12th October 2005. The campaign would be on going for 1 week.

Tourism is vital for the Bali`s economy. The peace loving Balinese` livelihood depends solely on income from our continued support and patronage to the beautiful island. As such, we must not, and should not, allow such acts of terrorism to ruin the beauty and peacefulness of the island which has endeared itself to all who have visited it.The NSTP Group, together with TV3 and 8TV believe that Malaysians can show our support for the people of Bali by not turning our backs on Bali. By continuing our visits to the island, we send the message that we will not give in to terror. We are proud to be associated with AirAsia, whose selfless initiative to promote and encourage tourism in Bali, has inspired us to lend a helping hand.

– Dato` Kalimullah Hassan, Group Editor- In -Chief, NSTP Group

Bali has been good to AirAsia, and now it is time to repay our friends in their time of need. We are thrilled that the NSTP Group, TV3 and 8TV have joined our campaign to bring Malaysians from all walks of life to Bali. We aspire to bring hope, and support to show to the people in Bali that Malaysians are united behind Bali. The quick time in which Malaysians have rallied behind our Indonesian friends shows the commitment between our two great countries. We in AirAsia have always believed in the spirit of ASEAN, and today in our small way we show that the ASEAN spirit is alive. I would like to personally thank Datuk Kalimullah, and the media at NSTP Group, TV3 and 8TV for the support.

– Datuk Tony Fernandes, Group CEO, AirAsia Berhad
