Korean Rail company KORAIL wants to attract more travellers into its airport express train by offering 40% discount on tickets for adults.
SEOUL- Until December 31st, Korean Rails (KORAIL) is offering a discount on fares for the Airport Railroad Express (AREX) express trains, which connect non-stop between Seoul Incheon International Airport and Seoul Station.
Moreover, AREX express train passengers may check in and go through immigration for departure in advance at Seoul Station- City Airport Terminal. In addition, they are eligible to receive a discount on parking at Seoul Station, as well as a free access to the customer lounge and electronic carts inside the Incheon International Airport Station.
Airport Express is seen as expensive compared to the cheap AREX commuter train to the airport, also operated by KORAIL. Commuter trains make several stops between Incheon International Airport and Seoul Station. However, they are no discount to commuter trains at this moment.
Meanwhile, the line will be further extended with the the city of Incheon requesting services to three new stations, Cheongna, Yeongjong and Yongyu. Cheongna station, located on the mainland near the coast west of Gyeyang, is due to open before the end of the year while the two other stations are due to be completed by 2014.
