Katiliya Mountain resort and Spa in Chiang Rai opens

HOTELCORP – one of Thailand’s largest privately held hospitality management company announces the opening of Katiliya Mountain Resort and Spa in the northern province of Chiang Rai, in Thailand.  The resort is an all-suite destination nestled amidst lush green valleys, mountain lakes and forest-covered hills, just half an hour away from the fabled Golden Triangle.

Mr. Bernhard Ollman, Director and COO of HOTELCORP says, “Katiliya Mountain Resort & Spa has a unique character all its own.  It is not merely a resort but is also a sanctuary for wellness, spa and meditation.  It brings together the best of nature’s elements – the lake, mountains, hillsides and the natural, peaceful atmosphere of this beautiful region.  The resort offers the most spacious accommodation in Chiang Rai with full service dining and recreation. It is designed to be a complete destination.”

Chiang Rai, the northernmost province of Thailand, is about 785 kilometers north of Bangkok. Situated on the Kok River basin, Chiang Rai covers an area of approximately 11,678 square meters with an average elevation of 580 meters above sea level.  The province is known as the gateway to Myanmar, Laos and Southern China, and home to the Golden Triangle – an area where the mountains of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand converge.

Katiliya’s grand villas and suites preside over a spellbinding landscape and natural green backdrop. The resort offers a glimpse of the beauty and magnificence of the 800-year old Lanna civilization whose identity is still very much apparent in the fabric of life. It is in such a place where one can experience the heights of comfort and opulence blended with the warmth of Thai hospitality. The villas and suites are the largest of any 5-star hotel in Chiang Rai comprised of classic and superior suites (90 square metres), deluxe suites (108 square metres), duplex suites (92 square metres), three-bedroom suites (308 square metres) and villas (596 square metres).

All accommodations have 3-metre high ceilings and spacious interiors which open to a balcony that provides breathtaking views. Suites are furnished with a choice of king-size, or twin beds, deluxe bedding, designer amenities, 40″ flat screen TV, DVD player, Satellite TV with a variety of international channels, complimentary high-speed internet, private bar, spacious his & hers separate closets, bedside controls, electronic door locks, in-room safes, and private Butler Service.  Bathrooms are fitted with oversized bath tubs, separate his-and-hers vanities, enveloping rain-shower systems and capacious wardrobes.

ML Vitaya Chakrabandhu, owner and developer of Katiliya Mountain Resort and Spa, who has spent more than 28 years in Atlanta, U.S.A., developing luxurious real estate communities says, “Chiang Rai is one of Thailand’s last frontiers.  While other beach and island destinations around Thailand are being developed massively, Chiang Rai is revered as an all-natural, environmentally preserved province.  Here, you can find bliss, harmony and peace, and we have built a resort that will allow you to experience that.  We incorporated natural elements of teak wood and bamboo in the construction of each villa matched with natural stones, local hardwood timber and red earth finishing.  The result is a relaxing ambience that embraces its natural surroundings.  This resort is just what this province needs, a place where one can experience culture and nature and, at the same time, feel completely at home.”

Katiliya also offers The Spa on the Lake which pampers guests with distinctive Northern Thai spa rituals with views of two mountain lakes. The Katiliya Wellness Program gently purifies the body with signature spa treatments, yoga sessions opening ones meridian lines and letting the Chi energy flow. There is also a Fitness Centre with splendid views of the surroundings.  Katiliya’s unique in-resort dining experience is centred on the great outdoors.  There is fine cuisine in the crisp open air at The Verandah. Then, there is the Baan Thai set amongst the trees and overlooking an amazing vista, and the food captures the essence of Northern Thai culture and cuisine. At The Pool Bar, guests can bask in the sun and sip cool refreshments throughout the day.  After sundown, The Fireplace Bar is the place to relax and enjoy exotic cocktails and drinks.

Mr. Ronald Decter, General Manager of the Katiliya Mountain Resort & Spa says, “This beautiful resort provides the highest levels of services and facilities, and is surrounded by spectacular natural beauty. Our resort team can also arrange local sightseeing and golf programs for guests, and we can prepare private experiences for couples and newlyweds who wish to enjoy a romantic get-away. We warmly invite everyone to come and enjoy the clean, brisk air of northern Thailand, be inspired by the surrounding forests and hillsides, and allow us to cater to your every need.”
